Insights

Strategic partnership Olympic Air recently expanded its network through AEGEAN, operating 33 Greek destinations with hubs in Athens and Rhodes, presenting opportunities to cross-sell ancillary services, loyalty partnerships, and bundled travel offerings to domestic and regional travelers.

Fleet and capacity growth Partnerships resulting in new aircraft (ATR72-600) and expanded summer programming indicate rising capacity, creating opportunities to sell ground handling, maintenance, in-flight products, and route development services to support scale.

PSO and domestic focus With extensive PSO route coverage and critical connections to multiple Greek islands, there is a strong mandate for localized services, ground support efficiency, and technology-enabled booking and PSO-compliance solutions for improved on-time performance.

Tech stack maturity Adopted technologies including Oracle Infinity, Akamai, OneTrust, and PWA signals a modern digital footprint; this supports upsell of digital customer experience enhancements, data-driven marketing, and secure, scalable e-commerce and loyalty solutions.

Market positioning As part of the AEGEAN Group with a broad regional footprint and consistent flight operations, Olympic Air is well-placed to offer co-branded travel packages, interline itineraries, and regional tourism-focused campaigns to partners and suppliers seeking Greece-centric travel experiences.

Olympic Air is a Greek airline based at Athens International Airport, formed in 2009 through the privatization of Olympic Airlines. In 2013 it merged with Aegean to broaden its network, linking Greek regions and remote islands with broader domestic and regional connectivity. The airline operates mainly from its Athens base with a secondary hub in Rhodes and functions as a subsidiary of Aegean, carrying out flights on behalf of the group within Greece and the Balkans. Its domestic network includes most Public Service Obligation routes, with direct Athens connections to islands such as Zakynthos, Leros, Milos, Naxos, Paros, Kalymnos, Kythira, Ikaria, Skiathos and Karpathos, and routes from Rhodes to destinations including Karpathos, Sitia, Kos, Kalymnos, Leros, Astypalea and Kastelorizo. In 2024 Abelo Aviation Management Limited announced the lease of a new ATR72-600 aircraft with Olympic Air.
