The Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Pittsburgh supports education, innovation, and collaboration to advance societal impact and strengthen the regional economy while helping individuals develop their careers. As a small university unit, it is organized into four divisions: The Innovation Institute; the Office of Industry and Economic Partnerships; the Big Idea Center for student innovation; and the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Its work sits within the higher education sector, serving students, faculty, and industry partners seeking to translate ideas into practical applications through partnerships and entrepreneurship programs. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the office functions as a bridge among academia, industry, and entrepreneurship to foster tangible outcomes. In December 2025, Pitt was reported to have formed a research collaboration with Singlera Genomics and Breakthrough Genomics to advance the preclinical evaluation of Singlera and Breakthrough's BT-Reveal Early Pancreatic Cancer Test.
