The NSABP Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit academic research organization with a long history of conducting breast and colorectal cancer studies. Its mission is to improve cancer patient outcomes through advances in therapeutic and preventive approaches. In the past 15 years it has established a full-service model to conduct international research in collaboration with the private sector, spanning pre-clinical work to late-stage clinical trials with a focus on biomarker-driven studies. The foundation operates through a network of nearly 700 medical centers, university hospitals, large oncology practice groups, and HMOs across the United States, Canada, and Ireland, supported by thousands of clinicians and other medical professionals who run its trials. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it continues the legacy of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project in studies conducted in partnership with industry. In 2018, Generex Biotechnology Corporation partnered with the NSABP Foundation to explore a potential Phase 2 trial of an anti-cancer vaccine for metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.
