North Central Texas College, established in 1924 in Gainesville, Texas, is the oldest continuously operating public two-year college in the state. It began as a rural junior college tied to local public schools and has grown into a comprehensive, regional community college with six campuses across its service area. Its mission centers on student success through institutional excellence, and it offers programs that lead to associate degrees and certificates, including transfers to universities, general education, career and technical education, developmental education, student development, adult and continuing education, and community education. In 2025, the college and Grayson College announced the North Texas Leadership Gateway Program, reflecting a collaboration to expand leadership opportunities in the region.
