The North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies is an inter-institutional research institute within the University of North Carolina system that focuses on climate science and related research coordination. It brings together universities, the private sector, non-profit organizations, community groups, and the federal government to support climate research across its network. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, the institute is co-located with NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information in the Veach-Baley Federal Complex.

The organization is relatively small and specialized, aligning with its role as a focused research center. A notable recent development is its partnership with Crisis Text Line International to study how young people's responses to crises change during significant events. Through its inter-institutional and cross-sector collaborations, NCICS facilitates climate-related research across the UNC system and partner organizations.
