Niemann Foods, Inc. is a retail company based in Quincy, Illinois, that operates grocery, pet food, hardware, pharmacies, and gas stations. It was founded in 1917 by Ferd Niemann, Sr. and Steve Niemann and grew from a single store to 10 corner groceries and a wholesale business by 1930, later introducing Quincy’s first full-service supermarket in 1940. Today it is the largest independently owned supermarket chain in central Illinois, with more than 100 stores serving communities in the region and a diversified retail footprint across multiple formats. The company uses an employee stock ownership plan, with more than 2,000 active associates owning stock. Niemann Foods has pursued growth through acquisitions and new locations, including the Shop 'N Save acquisition in 2018 and, in 2025, Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh acquiring Niemann Foods.
