Nicotine & Cannabis Policy Center (NCPC) conducts large-scale surveys to understand how residents in rural California view tobacco and cannabis policy. Its field work covers 11 counties in the San Joaquin Valley and the adjoining Sierra Nevada region, turning community perspectives into policy insights. The center aims to produce policy recommendations intended to reduce tobacco-related diseases and deaths in this underserved area. Based in Merced, California, NCPC operates as a small research-focused team within the broader research services field. It is organized around four core components that coordinate collaborations among California universities, diverse research disciplines, and community organizations at national, state, and local levels.
