New York College (NYC) is a higher education institution based in Athens, Attiki. It was established in 1989 through a collaboration with the State University of New York, founded on an international agreement of academic validation that was a first in Greece and the Balkans. Over time, NYC broadened its European partnerships, enabling its graduates to receive bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees from public universities such as SUNY Empire State College, the University of Greenwich, the University of Bolton, and Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, degrees that confer professional rights equivalent to those of Greek public university degrees. In 1998, NYC founded the University of New York in Prague, which has since been officially recognized as a private university by the Czech Ministry of Education. Students study at the Athens Campus or Thessaloniki Campus in Greece, or at UNYP Prague as part of NYC’s international network. The organization operates as a mid-sized higher education group with a workforce in the hundreds, and its online presence is nyc.gr.
