The New Hampshire Public Defender is a nonprofit organization that provides indigent defense services to individuals charged with crimes who cannot afford counsel, with representation across all state courts. Its staff includes attorneys, legal assistants, investigators, support personnel, and information technology specialists who support the delivery of defense services.

The organization was founded in 1972 as a pilot project and has operated as an independent nonprofit since 1985, based in Concord, New Hampshire, with offices in every county. In 1981, in collaboration with the Franklin Pierce Law Center (now the University of New Hampshire School of Law), it launched the Appellate Defender Program to represent indigent defendants appealing their convictions to the New Hampshire Supreme Court. In 2025 it received the New Hampshire Bar Association's Distinguished Service to the Public Award.
