National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) is a not-for-profit trade organization that represents independent pawnbrokers. Based in Victor, New York, it was founded in 1987 to advocate for the pawn industry at the national level and to promote a professional image across North America and beyond. The group provides education, tools, resources, and networking opportunities for its members and other stakeholders in the pawn sector. It also hosts what is described as the largest convention and tradeshow for pawnbrokers worldwide, convening industry professionals annually. The NPA is led by a volunteer board and organized into ten committees, including a Government Relations Committee that coordinates advocacy efforts; for over twenty years it has been the only national association in the pawn industry to employ qualified professionals, legal counsel, and a lobbying firm in Washington, DC.
