NOW-NYC is the founding chapter of the National Organization for Women and has operated in New York City since 1966. As a nonprofit, it advances the status of women and girls through public education, grassroots organizing, lobbying, action, and advocacy. NOW-NYC maintains a small professional staff to carry out its education, advocacy, and outreach efforts.
