Founded in 1993, the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA) provides life-affirming pregnancy centers with legal counsel, education, and training. NIFLA has dramatically grown and now represents approximately over 1,700 member centers across the country.

NIFLA provides critical legal counsel to pregnancy centers to enable them to avoid legal pitfalls in their operations. NIFLA is the national leader in the development of legal guidelines to help pro-life centers convert to licensed medical facilities. Of NIFLA’s membership, more than 700 centers operate as medical clinics providing ultrasound confirmation of pregnancy. Through The Life Choice Project (TLC) hundreds of PRCs have made a successful conversion to medical clinic status.

NIFLA’s monthly publications, Legal Tips and Clinic Tips, provide vital legal information to pro-life pregnancy centers regarding legal and medical issues affecting their operations. All NIFLA members receive a Legal Audit, which identifies legal deficiencies which exist in their operations and need to be corrected.

Through the provision of medical services, including ultrasound, pregnancy centers open a window to the womb for abortion-minded patients. After viewing an ultrasound, the vast majority of these patients choose life. To support the pregnancy center's mission, NIFLA offers medical training for medical professionals in limited obstetric ultrasound in the pregnancy clinic setting.
