The National Humanities Alliance (NHA) is a Washington, DC–based advocacy coalition founded in 1981 that advances humanities education, research, preservation, and public programs. Supported by a diverse network of more than 140 national, state, and local organizations and institutions, NHA serves as a coordinating body for the U.S. humanities community, bringing together scholarly associations, higher education groups, museums, libraries, historical societies, and humanities centers. The organization operates within the higher education sector, aiming to strengthen public engagement with humanities disciplines and support related initiatives across institutions. In recent activity, NHA has expanded its governance and partnerships, including the addition of a board member and collaboration with educational organizations to promote humanities-focused programs and events. The organization maintains its presence online at nhalliance.org and is structured as a small, mission-driven coalition focused on advocacy and program support for humanities work across the country.
