The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC) is a Washington, District of Columbia–based association that has represented America’s farmer cooperatives since 1929, operating in the government relations arena. Its membership comprises regional and national cooperatives that collectively include about 2,000 local cooperatives and 17 state or regional councils, reflecting the broad scope of the rural cooperative system. Through its cooperative network, NCFC covers activities that handle, process, and market nearly every type of agricultural commodity, furnish farm inputs, and provide credit and related financial services, including export financing. Earnings from these activities are returned to members on a patronage basis, and the organization supports rural economies by sustaining over 250,000 jobs with a payroll above $8 billion. In 2026, NCFC announced leadership additions as part of a new strategic plan to strengthen advocacy communications.
