NCCPL operates as a central clearing and settlement provider for Pakistan’s capital markets, handling the clearing and settlement of book-entry securities. It serves all three stock exchanges in the country and connects with the central depository to operate a centralized, automated NCSS. The company was formed in 2001 under the Capital Market Development Programme supported by the Asian Development Bank to consolidate clearing into a single system. NCSS began live operations in December 2001 and became fully operational by 2003-04. It sits within Pakistan’s capital market infrastructure, supporting clearing and settlement for market participants alongside the stock exchanges and the depository. Based in Pakistan with a mid-sized workforce, NCCPL has pursued modernization initiatives, including the launch of an API-based KYC Information Update Service in 2025.
