The National Association of Japan-America Societies, Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., that serves as an umbrella network for Japan-America societies across North America. Its mission is to strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding between the peoples of Japan and the United States by delivering programs, services, and information and by facilitating collaboration among its member societies. The leadership acts as an advocate for the network, engaging with external groups including government, business, NGOs, universities, think tanks, and foundations, while coordinating information on programs, speakers, events, and funding sources for members and organizing regional and national meetings. The organization provides managerial support, mentoring, and guidance to member societies and serves as an information resource on the Japan-America relationship at the grassroots level, helping share best practices across the network. It maintains relationships with sister societies in North America and with counterparts in Japan to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. In 2020, NAJAS launched a webinar series to illuminate current affairs affecting the Japan-US relationship, illustrating its approach to expanding online programming and information delivery.
