Modern Electron is a sustainability-focused technology company in the renewable energy sector, based in Bothell, Washington. It develops systems that convert boiler and furnace heat into on-site power for buildings, reducing energy waste and helping owners save on energy costs. The company's next-generation approach decarbonizes further by converting natural gas into clean hydrogen without CO2 emissions. Today, its technology targets the large portion of homes that rely on natural gas for heating, enabling more sustainable operation.

The company sits at the intersection of renewable energy and semiconductor manufacturing, serving buildings and homeowners as its primary customers and collaborating with utilities to decarbonize gas use. In July 2022, it announced a partnership with NW Natural, a Portland-based gas utility, to produce clean hydrogen directly from natural gas and blend it into its distribution network.
