The MIT Portugal Program is an international collaboration linking Portuguese universities and research institutions with MIT, alongside the Portuguese government and industry partners. Since its start in Portugal in 2006 and renewal in 2013, it has built a research platform spanning advanced fields and has offered PhD, Masters and Executive Masters programs to students from Portugal and around the world. The third phase, MIT Portugal Partnership 2030, launched in June 2018, focuses on four strategic areas—Climate Science and Climate Change; Earth Systems: Oceans to Near Space; Digital Transformation in Manufacturing; and Sustainable Cities—emphasizing data-driven approaches and collaboration with Industrial Affiliates to connect research with practical applications.
