The Minnesota AIDS Project is a statewide nonprofit organization in the hospitals and health care sector, based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Founded in 1983, it seeks to reduce new HIV infections in Minnesota and ensure that people living with HIV can lead long, healthy lives. Its mission centers on leading the state's efforts to stop HIV through prevention, advocacy, awareness and services. The organization relies on a broad volunteer network to provide compassionate, confidential, and non-discriminatory support that covers practical, emotional, and social needs. It serves people living with HIV and others at risk, offering prevention education, HIV testing and community outreach to those at greatest risk for transmission across the state. In 2014, the organization provided services to more than half of the nearly 8,000 Minnesotans living with HIV.
