Midway Ford Truck Center, based in the Kansas City region of Missouri, began in 1961 as Ford's first truck-only dealership in the United States. An Employee Stock Ownership Plan implemented in 1982 supports a long-tenured workforce and a centralized model that has helped the company attract a predominantly commercial customer base, with more than 90% of business in that sector. In 2009, the company expanded by acquiring assets of a Freightliner dealership in Quincy, Illinois, becoming the Freightliner dealer for an 11-county area along the Mississippi River across Illinois and Missouri. The Quincy facility remains a parts and service site, while a new and used sales, parts and service facility was opened in Palmyra, Missouri in June 2009. Midway operates a separate body shop, Midway USA Collision Center, centralized in the Kansas City area since 2005, and has earned Ford's President's Award for ten consecutive years.
