Marlboro College is a higher education institution based in Vermont, operating an undergraduate campus in Marlboro and a Graduate Center in Brattleboro. Founded in 1946, it has historically offered a small, close-knit learning environment that aims to broaden students' intellectual horizons and support personal and professional growth. The college emphasizes critical and creative thinking, independence, social justice, sustainability, and community as guiding themes for student exploration and engagement. Subsequently, Marlboro College merged with Emerson College in 2019, after which the Vermont campus was closed. In the ensuing years, related transitions included the transfer and sale of assets, with Democracy Builders Fund acquiring the campus property in 2020 for a new post-secondary model and Emerson later acquiring Marlboro's assets and endowments in 2021, enrolling many of its former students but not the campus.
