Mareeba Shire Council is a local government authority located in Mareeba, in Far North Queensland. It governs a diverse region on the Atherton Tablelands, featuring rainforest, waterfalls, and productive agricultural and cattle properties across a land area of about 53,457 square kilometers. The Shire serves just over 22,000 residents, distributed across Mareeba and Kuranda towns along with numerous rural and remote communities such as Chillagoe, Dimbulah, and Mount Molloy. As a government administration entity, it provides planning, infrastructure, and service delivery to its communities, supported by a mid-sized workforce. A LATM model was launched in June 2022 to address traffic management across the Shire. The council operates as a regional government body supporting a growing, sustainable community in Queensland.
