The Maplewood Area Historical Society is a nonprofit organization formed in 1997 to preserve and interpret Maplewood's history through collections, exhibits, and public programs. It offers events, tours, and talks that engage residents and visitors, with most activities hosted at the Bruentrup Heritage Farm and some conducted offsite. The organization operates within the museums and historical sites sector, focusing on community access to local heritage. Bruentrup Heritage Farm covers two and a half acres and includes nine buildings dating back to 1891. The farm is bordered on two sides by a 22-acre prairie open space maintained by the City of Maplewood, which provides a backdrop for the site’s public programming. It can also be rented for private events, such as weddings, in addition to hosting public events and exhibits.
