Maine Coast Heritage Trust is a statewide land conservation organization based in Topsham, Maine, founded in 1970 as a local land trust on Mount Desert Island. Operating in the philanthropic fundraising services field, it partners with landowners, communities, organizations, and Tribal entities to protect Maine’s lands and waters, ensuring these places remain connected to people and capable of supporting life for future generations. The organization maintains four office locations and works with a network of more than 80 groups through the Maine Land Trust Network. Recent developments include a partnership with MidCoast Regional Housing Trust to conserve farmland at Erickson Fields Preserve and to create year-round workforce housing. It has also earned the Collaboration of the Year Award for its work with Outdoor Access Solutions to assess and redesign public access at the Cousins River Fields & Marsh Preserve in Yarmouth.
