Maine Army National Guard is a state-reserve military organization that falls under Commissioner of the Department of Veterans and Emergency Management (a Major General Army or Air Force), under the Governor of Maine. When called to Active Duty, under federal needs/demands those select forces become Active Component (T-10) for the commitment or time of need until released. The Maine Army National Guard consists of Army-Engineers (Combat, Vertical and Horizontal), Military Police, Aviation, Maintenance, Medical-Readiness, Infantry, transportation, logistics, and CBRN (Chem., Bio., Rad.,... Response). Units span from Presque Isle to Saco ( more specifically- Bangor, Brewer, Skowhegan, Waterville, Augusta, Norway...). The Maine National Guard employs over 500 AGRs (Active Guard Reserve T-32), Federal Technicians, and state employees in support of over 1,800 Traditional Soldiers (one weekend a month plus two weeks a year). Maine prides itself with its lineage with the 20th and 2nd Maine Infantry Battalions of the Civil War.
