The Metropolitan New York Synod is the regional arm of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for a defined territory that includes all five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley. It is organized into 18 conferences, each led by a dean who serves as a liaison between the bishop’s office and the congregations in their area.
