LS Instruments AG operates in nanotechnology research, applying advanced light scattering methods to address complex needs across scientific and industrial fields, including biotechnology, food science, cosmetics, nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and fundamental materials research. It originated as a spin-off from the Physics Department of the University of Fribourg and is based in Fribourg, Switzerland.

From its beginnings as a university spin-off, LS Instruments grew to its own office in 2011 and received the CTI Start-Up label that year. Its customer base spans academic researchers and industrial practitioners who rely on its tools to tackle complex measurement and analysis challenges. In October 2025 the company participated in the 14th NIZO Dairy Conference, where it conducted a workshop on food rheology.
