Los Angeles Waterkeeper is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles that focuses on protecting the health of the region's waterways and ensuring water supplies that are sustainable, equitable, and climate-friendly. It envisions the Los Angeles area as an international leader in integrated water management, pursuing water self-sufficiency and making county waterways safe, healthy, and publicly accessible. The organization serves residents, communities, and policymakers by addressing water quality issues and advocating for policies that support sustainable management of water resources. It collaborates with partner groups and engages in community science initiatives, including the River Assessment Field Team program that analyzes the health of the Los Angeles River. In December 2023, it helped develop the Vision 2045 report with Heal the Bay and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), outlining bolder goals for the county's Safe, Clean Water Program.
