It began in 1993 as Gurgel Ferramentas, founded by Márcio Gurgel after recognizing the demand for specialized tools through door-to-door sales. The business expanded online in the late 1990s and early 2000s, becoming a pioneer in Brazil's tools market with an e-commerce platform launched in 2003 and adopting the Loja do Mecânico name in 2006 to reach a broader worker audience.
It is based in Franca, SP, and has operated a physical store there since 2006, with distribution centers in Cajamar, SP, and Recife, PE. The company launched its own private-label FortG in 2013 and continues to expand its footprint with new distribution centers and stores in Betim, MG, and other cities across the country.
