Lever Fund is a philanthropic non-profit focused on making the National Capital Region economically just by pooling and investing donor funds in programs that propel youth from low-income families toward their first well-paying job.
Landing that first employment with regular pay and benefits is critical to breaking the cycle of poverty. Lever Fund invests in and partners with a network of organizations that expose 14 to 21 year olds to real life work situations through internships, training, and networking events. For donors, we offer the convenience and satisfaction of tailor-made portfolios of charitable investments that fit their preferences and promise high impact. 
The National Capital Region boasts some of the greatest wealth in the world—yet more than 400,000 live on less than $24,600 per year for a family of four, and over 1 million endure lives of chronic financial instability. If we are to lift our region’s low-income families out of poverty, we must find a new way. 
Lever Fund is modeled after Robin Hood Foundation (New York City, NY), the largest poverty-fighting organization in New York City, and is part of a family of sister organizations, including A Better Chicago (Chicago, IL), Constellation Fund (Minneapolis, MN), Slingshot Memphis (Memphis, TN), and Tipping Point (San Francisco, CA). All of us apply metrics, emphasize impact, and are committed to producing solid results.
