Legat Architects is an architecture and planning firm with roots dating to 1964, originally founded in Waukegan, Illinois before relocating to a renovated church. It operates from Chicago in the Midwest region and has expanded with multiple studios across the Midwest. The firm handles high-profile design projects and emphasizes engagement with the communities where it operates, with a portfolio that spans more than 30 countries.

Recent developments include expanding its Midwest footprint through the acquisition of Studio 3 Design to establish a presence in Indianapolis in 2026, and appointing Kelsey Jordan as associate director of the preK-12 education segment that year. It has earned industry recognition, such as The Architect's Newspaper Best of Practice in 2025, and pursues partnerships and leadership appointments—such as the Playful Learning Landscapes collaboration for Chicago installations and the appointment of a director for the Iowa City studio.
