Legacy Foundation is a United States–based nonprofit organization established in 1999 operating within the environmental services sector. It supports sustainable development and environmental preservation by integrating technology innovation, media, and management, with a focus on assisting local groups, particularly women’s groups, to become self-sufficient in briquette production for cooking and heating. Through partnerships with over 60 NGO groups worldwide, the foundation promotes low-cost biomass briquette technology for small-scale entrepreneurs and community organizations, aiming to reduce dependence on fuel wood and to generate income and time savings for participants. Its activities span multiple countries across Africa, Asia, the Americas, and beyond, including ongoing training, technical assistance, and networking to strengthen community-led briquette projects. A recent development noted is its involvement in the Cedar Lake Community Heart & Soul initiative, where Legacy Foundation will provide training, technical assistance, and up to funding to support resident-driven action planning.
