Founded in 2000, Leader’s Challenge is a non-profit youth organization. Our mission is to create civic and service-minded high school students by developing their leadership skills, inspiring purpose, and empowering them to make a difference. Our vision is to turn high-potential high school students into courageous leaders who impact and change their world. Our Programs: IGNITE engages high school juniors in leadership training, service learning and civic engagement. Through participation in an intensive Summer Academy, Monthly Challenges and a Final Challenge service project, students develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors critical to responsible citizenship, and are better prepared to affect change in their own lives and their communities. Global Challenge is designed to expand students’ worldview through participation in an international service trip in which they have the opportunity to live and work with citizens of another nation, and experience their culture and customs first hand. Prior to their service trip, students spend the year studying history, geography, culture, economics, and politics in a global context, and develop a broader understanding of the world they live in. Colorado Close Up provides students with the opportunity to visit their state capitol for three interactive days where they meet with elected officials from each branch of government, and work with lobbyists and business leaders to discuss how they can impact their communities. Participants return home with the knowledge and skills to identify problems and draw on local resources to create long-term, sustainable change.
