Lake Country Power is a utilities cooperative and Touchstone Energy member based at 2810 Elida Drive in Grand Rapids, Minnesota 55744, serving rural northern areas of the state. It provides electricity and energy-related services to nearly 43,000 members across parts of eight counties: Aitkin, Carlton, Cass, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Pine, and St. Louis. The cooperative maintains more than 8,100 miles of distribution lines within a service territory of about 10,872 square miles, making it Minnesota’s largest electric cooperative by geographic footprint. Service centers are located in Grand Rapids, Kettle River, and Mountain Iron, with five outpost facilities in Cook, Ely, McGregor, Remer, and Saginaw. Lake Country Power was formed on January 1, 1997, through the consolidation of Carlton County Cooperative Power Association (Kettle River, est. 1936), Dairyland Electric Cooperative (Grand Rapids, est. 1940), and Northern Electric Cooperative Association (Virginia, est. 1938).
