Kuspuk School District is a remote Alaska district serving eight schools across seven villages along the middle Kuskokwim River, accessible only by air or river travel. Across the district, we’re connected by culture, community, and a shared commitment to doing what’s best for kids. Spanning nearly 12,000 square miles, we are known for initiatives like Kuspuk Empowers, our districtwide professional learning rooted in Teacher Clarity, Collective Efficacy, and culturally responsive trauma-engaged practice. Our educators embrace cutting-edge strategies while honoring Yup’ik and Athabaskan cultural knowledge, creating learning environments where students feel seen and supported. Kuspuk is also a leader in experiential and place-based learning. From the George River Internship and Math Science Expedition, our students learn by doing: on the river, at fish camp, in our communities, and through technology that bridges the distances between us. We’er passionate about teacher support, mental health services, innovative staffing models, and expanding opportunities for rural learners. Let’s go forward, working together.
