The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) is a government administration association based in Lexington, Kentucky, serving more than 380 Kentucky cities. It provides cities, elected city leaders and municipal employees with services including legislative advocacy, legal services, policy development, community development, research and training, and enterprise services such as financing for cities, and operates Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services, the largest municipal insurance carrier in Kentucky. KLC is overseen by a board of directors representing communities of all sizes and traces its history to 1927, when 12 Kentucky cities formed it to address common legislative issues and to gain economies of scale. In 1987, KLC created KLCIS as a member-owned insurance pool to address insurance affordability and availability for cities. The organization's mission is to serve as the united voice of cities by supporting community innovation, effective leadership and quality governance. It employs between 51 and 200 people.
