K-Electric, formerly the Karachi Electric Supply Company, is a publicly listed utilities provider in Pakistan that generates, transmits and distributes electricity for Karachi and its outskirts across a 6,500 square-kilometer territory. Founded in 1913 and privatized in 2005, it is based in Karachi, Sindh, and operates as the country’s only vertically integrated power utility. KE serves industrial, commercial, agricultural and residential customers, delivering electricity across its integrated generation, transmission and distribution network. KE is one of the country’s largest employers. A majority of its shares are held by KES Power and listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, with the Government of Pakistan as a minority shareholder. In 2026, Syed Taha was appointed chief executive officer effective April 15, and Shaheryar Chishty served as acting chairman after the resignation of the previous chair.
