Irish Sailing is the national governing body for sailing, powerboating and windsurfing in Ireland. Founded in 1945, its duties include serving members, representing their interests with sports bodies and government, and promoting the development of the sport to boost participation. It supports a large community—around 22,500 members and more than 200 affiliated organisations—through a network of training centres offering courses across dinghy, keelboat, catamaran, cruiser, powerboating, windsurfing and inland waterways for members and the public. Its customers include individual members, clubs, training centres and the broader public seeking training, racing and leisure activities in water sports. Based in Dun Laoghaire in the Dublin region, Irish Sailing operates within Ireland's sports governance framework to coordinate clubs, athletes and government bodies in support of the sport's development. In February 2026, the organization launched the YTC rating system, a design-based alternative to traditional rating schemes.
