Located on the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta, the Invention Studio is a student-run makerspace open to all members of the institute. It is staffed by Prototyping Instructors, student volunteers who train users and help with projects, and access is free for students, faculty, and staff regardless of year, major, or prior experience. The space is designed to be collectively owned by students, with PIs guiding use and maintenance to keep resources available and to promote safety, responsibility, and community. It positions itself as a hub for self-initiated design and innovation within Georgia Tech, supporting creative, independent learning through workshops, mentorship, and access to advanced equipment. A notable recent development is a collaboration with Xebia announced in December 2025 to explore AI-powered workforce development and applied research. Based in Atlanta, the studio operates within the university setting as part of its education initiatives.
