ISS-USA serves as the U.S. member of a global child protection and social service network. For almost 100 years, it has provided case management services and technical assistance to support, protect, and reunite vulnerable children, adults, and families separated by international borders. It mobilizes a domestic and international network of legal and social work professionals, with reach across the U.S. and in more than 120 countries. It is based in Baltimore, Maryland. 

A recent development is a November 2024 partnership with UNHCR, coordinated with UNICEF and other stakeholders to address protection gaps and coordination needs. The organization has a history of cross-border collaboration, including 2019 partnerships with a Honduran NGO for youth cross-border case management and with Lumos for safe repatriation and reintegration planning for children returning to Guatemala.
