The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) is a not-for-profit organization based in Rockville, Maryland, founded in 1984. It operates in the environmental services sector, developing credentials for professionals who manage hazardous materials, dangerous goods, and environmental health and safety. IHMM administers several accredited credentials, including CHMM, CHMP, CDGP, CDGT, CSHM, CSMP, and ASHM. More than 17,000 professionals across fields such as homeland security, environmental protection, engineering, health sciences, transportation, and public safety have earned the CHMM credential. In May 2026 IHMM participated in the National Safety Council Congress & Expo, one of the safety industry's premier events.
