Institut Curie - Research Centre is a private foundation with charitable status that combines a leading oncology research hub with a hospital network. Based in Paris, Île-de-France, it employs a sizable workforce of researchers, clinicians and support staff who collaborate to advance cancer science and patient care. Founded in 1909 on the model developed by Marie Curie, the organization seeks to bridge basic research and clinical innovation and shares medical and scientific advances in France and abroad. Its research agenda centers on biophysics, cell biology and oncology, while its hospital activities include centers of excellence for breast cancer, pediatric tumors and ocular tumors, alongside treatment of other cancers as needed. In January 2025, Institut Curie launched the FRATHEA project for Flash Radiation Therapy Electron Acceleration at its Orsay site on the Saclay plateau, marking an expansion of its therapeutic capabilities.
