Based in Rosemont, Illinois, the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy was established in 2008 by dairy farmers as a precompetitive forum to align the U.S. dairy community around category-wide issues and opportunities. It convenes leaders and experts from across the dairy value chain—agriculture, co-operatives, processors, retailers, civil society, and academia—to advance a shared social responsibility platform and communicate the sector’s positive impact, supported by a relatively small staff. A core element of its work is the U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment, a pledge to demonstrate and report progress toward an economically viable and socially responsible dairy system from farm to table. The organization invites involvement from all participants along the dairy chain who share that commitment. It serves as a neutral, collaborative backbone for industry-wide efforts.
