Indorama Ventures Xylenes & PTA, LLC (IVXP) operates a chemical manufacturing facility in Decatur, Alabama, on a 1,000-acre site that produces purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and its raw material, paraxylene (PX). The facility supplies PTA and PX to Indorama Ventures' Alpha PET co-located operation as well as to external customers worldwide. It is the world's only commercial producer of naphthalene dicarboxylate (NDC), a material used in next-generation polyesters and resins for items such as LCD displays, ultra-thin data storage tape, and tire cord. The site was acquired by Indorama Ventures in 2016 from BP Amoco Chemical Company and remains a mid-sized, globally connected operation. It has OSHA VPP Star certification and hosts an environmental learning program called Wetlands Edge, reflecting a focus on safety and environmental stewardship.
