The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) is a law enforcement consortium founded in 2002 in response to the September 11 attacks. Based in Urbana, Illinois, it coordinates mutual aid, emergency response, and the pooling of resources among local agencies to support public safety and terrorism prevention across the state. Serving hundreds of local governments, ILEAS encompasses a broad network that now represents a large majority of Illinois law enforcement officers, facilitating collaboration and shared capabilities across the Illinois policing landscape. In addition to its operational missions, ILEAS has expanded its facilities and programs, including a recent equipment exchange initiative and ongoing partnerships to strengthen cyber security and other public safety functions for its member agencies.
