Illinois Joining Forces (IJF) operates as a statewide, public-private network that connects military and veteran-serving organizations to improve services for service members, veterans, and their families. Founded in 2012 through an inter-governmental agreement between the Illinois Departments of Veterans’ Affairs and Military Affairs, IJF functions as a stand-alone nonprofit that helps navigate the broad array of available support, aiming to reduce the burden of locating appropriate resources for SMVF communities. Its work centers on creating a gateway to services, eliminating barriers to access, and expanding partnerships with regional hubs and providers to ensure timely, coordinated assistance. Based in Chicago, Illinois, IJF positions itself within the civic and social organizations sector, focusing on collaboration among public, private, and government stakeholders to support caregivers and survivors across status and circumstances. A core objective is to convene service providers and the SMVF community for education, collaboration, and connection, with a 24/7 coordination center available for immediate support.
