The Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) is a state government agency focused on computer and network security and the management of statewide IT services. Created by statute in 2018, it is responsible for information technology functions across agencies under the governor’s jurisdiction. DoIT provides statewide technology, innovation and telecommunications services to state government agencies, boards and commissions, and oversees policy and standards development, lifecycle investment planning, and privacy and security management. It also manages the Illinois Century Network, a high-speed backbone that connects schools, higher education institutions, libraries and other entities serving residents. Based in Springfield, Illinois, the department’s mission centers on equipping agencies with modern, user-friendly technology to bridge residents and government services, pursuing an enterprise approach to improve security, reduce redundancy, and enhance interagency collaboration.
