The Indian Child Welfare Act Law Center (ICWA Law Center) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In values and in practice, the ICWA Law Center is solely dedicated to providing holistic and family-centered legal services to American Indian children and families impacted by state and tribal child protection proceedings. Formed and established in 1993, the ICWA Law Center values and recognizes the great importance and interconnectedness of family, tribe, and community for Indigenous Peoples. The ICWA Law Center strongly supports these connections for Indigenous children and families and acknowledges the great role that identity and belonging play in the overall health and wellness of Indigenous communities. Our approach to legal advocacy for families recognizes and responds to the generational trauma wrought by decades of oppressive federal policies designed to destroy American Indian families, cultures, and traditional worldviews; as well as acknowledges the immediate trauma families experience as a result of their involvement in the child welfare system. Our office is located at 224 W Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404. Our main office number is: (612) 879 - 9165. For inquiries or more information, please email info@icwlc.org
