ICC chessclub.com is a long-standing player in the computer games sector, rooted in online chess since its founding in 1995. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the organization has evolved from hosting the first global online chess community to pursuing renewed avenues that bring the chess experience to online gaming audiences, while continuing to offer a platform for traditional chess play. With a team of a modest size, the company serves players who seek accessible, engaging, and varied chess experiences, including innovative formats such as bullet chess. In 2024, ICC indicated a relaunch aimed at expanding accessibility and enjoyment, signaling a continued focus on connecting chess enthusiasts with online gaming communities. Recent collaborations, such as the partnership announced with US Chess in 2021 to support online scholastic championships, illustrate its ongoing role in integrating competitive chess with online platforms.
