Humanities Nebraska is a Nebraska-based nonprofit established in 1973 as the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Its mission centers on helping people explore what connects us and what makes us human, with a vision that Nebraskans possess knowledge, understanding, and empathy to sustain an informed and just society. Its guiding principles emphasize culture as a right, respectful dialogue across differences, and inclusive learning from the past to enrich the future. Through a range of programs including grants, a Speakers Bureau, Chautauqua, Prime Time Family Reading, Nebraska Warrior Writers, and Museum On Main Street exhibitions, Humanities Nebraska engages communities across the state. A recent collaboration with the Grand Island Public Library Foundation to offer bilingual Prime Time Family Reading demonstrates ongoing community partnerships, and Humanities Nebraska is based in Lincoln, Nebraska.
